The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)
FSC is a global not-for-profit organization that sets the standards for what is a responsibly managed forest, both environmentally and socially.
When timber leaves a certified forest, FSC ensures companies along the supply chain meet the best practice standards, so that when a product bears the FSC logo, you can be sure it’s been made from responsible sources. FSC doesn’t set these standards alone, but consults with a global network of environmental, social, and economic members to ensure that forest standards represent everyone’s needs.
Nowadays, there are more than 196 million hectares of FSC-certified forest in the world and almost 37,000 companies operate in the supply chain*.
