Good family habits
What does family mean to you? For some, family is associated with fun, laughter, a feeling of safety and security but for others it might conjure up feelings of stress, anxiety and frustration!
American author, Gretchin Rubin, has written a number of books which explore human nature, sharing insights, stories and tips to help people understand themselves and create a happier life.
Gretchen recommends these five daily habits which can strengthen family ties and make the family environment a more peaceful one.
#1 - Kiss each other in the morning and the evening to start and end the day with a reminder as to how much you love one another.
#2 - Greet each other properly with a ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye’ when you enter and leave the house – add a hug to make a better connection!
#3 - Keep up to date with a call or message to your loved ones if you don’t live together. Share all the latest news and tell them that you miss them.
#4 - Talk as much as possible about anything and everything. Even if it seems unimportant, it could be the start of an interesting new conversation.
#5 - Compliment each other to show your affection and to let your family know how much you mean to one another.
It might be too much to try to incorporate all at once so why not try one at a time and see how you get on?
